New words:

shabby - ˈʃæbi; - (of buildings, clothes, objects, etc.) in poor condition because they have been used a lot
Example: She wore shabby old jeans and a T-shirt.

to hoist a flag

to lower a flag

with flying colours - to pass an exam with flying colours = to get 100% and (and fly a flag to celebrate :) )
Example: Sylvia had passed her exams with flying colours

to flag down a taxi - to hail a taxi

What's this thingy? - Что это за штука/хрень?

mourning - 'môrning - sadness that you show and feel because sb has died
Example: The government announced a day of national mourning for the victims.

to mourn - mɔːn - to feel and show sadness because sb has died; to feel sad because sth no longer exists or is no longer the same
Example: Today we mourn for all those who died in two world wars.

longevity - lɒnˈdʒevəti - long life; the fact of lasting a long time.
Example: We wish you both health and longevity.

be predisposed to sth - ˌpriːdɪˈspəʊz - to influence sb so that they are likely to think or behave in a particular way.
Example: He believes that some people are predisposed to criminal behaviour.
